- This internet space concerns a UK primary school. Its Board of Governors - BoG - appealed in April 2023 to local residents to volunteer and help according to their interest and capability.
- This volunteer - V - contacted the BoG in April 2023. A meeting with the head teacher - HT - ensued at which HT suggested a science club - SC. V accepted with enthusiasm.
- It was agreed that a 40 minute session would take place once a fortnight.
- Although
the HT was in the background until October, the science teacher - ST
- was the main contact. Essentially V's line manager.
- The DBS vetting process began at the start of the Autumn Term.
- The reasons for creating this report include ensuring that school volunteers are given safeguard training. It is also my response to disrespectful treatment and the feeling of lack of dignity.
- With
every intention of notifying the Secretary of State for Education, I
established the necessity of contacting the BoG first.
- I have spent days and money on two railway track boards and associated equipment. No claim whatsoever is made re finance.
- I have spent a long time on this report.
- The
least HT can do in response is to offer a written apology, respond
positively to 21, or find another primary school within reasonable
distance. I trust HT and I will agree on the content of a written
reference.
- The least BoG can do in response is to suggest ways to alleviate the situation. Item 23 heralds the best way forward.
- This
V would be pleased to start again in the school in preference to
another school. He has proved his acceptance of the resource centre by
turning up to the third session. It had been cancelled without telephoning V.
- Forgiveness is a two way process. I will play my part.
