1. You may have arrived here after looking for an educational website.   This one concerns lack of professionalism within a primary school in England.

3. It is entirely anonymous so that anyone connected to the school and is not part of the story is free from anything negative.

5. The Board of Governors - BoG - appealed to residents in April 2023 to volunteer their time and expertise to help in the then time of need.

7. The main problem described arose due to not having enough classroom accommodation for anyone offering more than help with reading.

9. A further problem arose once this volunteer had started.  It centred on the Board of Governors not fulfilling its responsibility at law to provide volunteers with safeguarding training.

11. That responsibility is delegated to the Head Teacher - HT.

13. During the summer vacation I prepared a lot of teaching aids including a portable train track - 4ft square.

15.  I had said that I could attend once per fortnight for 40-minute sessions.

17. The first session on 20 September 2023 went well.  Two weeks later I was put in the Resource Centre - RC.  It is a corridor for the playground and a fire escape route.

19. The session was unsuccessful (understatement) due to pupils rushing through to the playground and club pupils rushing after them.

21. As I had not heard any information to the contrary I went in for the third session in the RC.  No pupils.
     
    
22.  HT and I discussed the situation at 0800 on 20 October when I pointed out that she knew at the first discussion that there was a timetabling crisis due to the lack of classroom availability.

24. HT was informed that I had had no safeguarding training which the law demands.  HT explained that the school is under governmental pressure to take on more and more.

26. I informed HT that I could not continue with volunteering.
